Calendar Notes

Baltimore County began the 2025-2026 year on August 25, 2025, which put it earlier than Carroll and Harford, both of which started students after Labor Day. The August 21 orientation for students entering grades 6 and 9 and the August 27 first full day of kindergarten are separate planning dates, so families with transition-year or kindergarten students should not rely only on the districtwide first-day field.

This year has several grade-band closures that are more specific than a regular student holiday. Prekindergarten conference days appear on November 17 and April 27, elementary students are closed for conferences on November 18, and PreK and kindergarten have a separate conference closure on April 24. Those dates do not affect every student the same way, which matters for households with children in multiple school levels.

The regular no-emergency-closure last day is June 11, 2026, but June 12, June 15, and June 16 are retained as conditional emergency closure make-up days. June 15 and June 16 also carry three-hour early dismissal language if they become school days. Spring Break runs April 2-10, later and longer than Howard's March 30-April 3 break and different from Harford's March 30-April 6 schedule.

  • First day for students: August 25, 2025
  • No-emergency-closure last day: June 11, 2026
