Frederick County began the 2025-2026 year on August 20, 2025, one of the earliest starts on the site for that year. The revised MSDE opening and closing dates list shows June 16, 2026 as the closing date. The FCPS source labels June 9 as the scheduled finish and then lists five conditional snow make-up school days on June 10, June 11, June 12, June 15, and June 16, so the current event table uses June 16 while preserving the June 9 source context here and in the FAQ.
The calendar has several schedule changes that are not simple no-school days. September 19 is a 3.5-hour early dismissal, September 26 is a two-hour early dismissal, and October 13-15 are elementary and middle school conference schedule changes with four-hour late arrivals on October 13-14 and a 3.5-hour early dismissal on October 15. Those ES/MS labels matter because they should not be expanded to every grade level without a school-specific notice.
Frederick's breaks run November 26-28 for Thanksgiving, December 22-January 2 for Winter Break, and April 6-10 for Spring Break. That spring break is later than many central Maryland systems and follows Good Friday on April 3.
